University of Wisconsin - La Crosse

Ailabouni is an Assistant Teaching Professor of music at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse where he directs the Jazz Ensemble, coaches the Hoefer Brass Quintet, and teaches the trumpet studio and Music Appreciation courses.

Jazz Ensemble

The UWL Jazz Ensemble is a 20-member group which performs regularly throughout the year including Swinging Yuletide, Big Band Cabaret, and the Fall and Spring Jazz Showcase concerts.

The ensemble gives students a solid foundation in the large ensemble jazz tradition while at the same time exploring more contemporary genres and new jazz compositions and arrangements and improvisation skills. Jazz Ensemble helps prepare students for eventual membership in the UWL Jazz Orchestra. Scholarships are available for students in Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Orchestra. Music students can major with an emphasis in Jazz Performance.

Studio Lessons

The Ailabouni private studio includes students focused on classical trumpet performance and jazz improvisation. In both areas of study, repertoire, listening, technique, efficiency, and creativity are emphasized. Lessons are personalized to provide challenging and rewarding materials to study on a weekly basis.
